EE Bonds double in 20 years

EE Bonds are a deal from the US government: buy one and it will be worth double in 20 years. Put in $1,000 and it becomes $2,000, guaranteed. You can buy up to $10,000 a year per person, and the interest is free from state and local tax. You cannot touch the money for the first 12 months.

Good for: Patient savers who want a guaranteed doubling.
