Child Tax Credit

In 2026 the Child Tax Credit is $2,200 for each child under 17. Two kids means up to $4,400 off your tax bill, and up to $1,700 per child can come back as a refund even if you owe no tax. The credit starts shrinking if you earn over $200,000 filing single or $400,000 married. Both you and each child need a Social Security number to claim it.

Good for: Parents with children under 17.
